Fun post Carol. I purchased a fig tree this past spring, and it already has three tiny figs. It is planted in a big pot, so I can move it inside this winter. We used to find figs on our walk by the ocean from Parede to Cascais. Free for the taking. Also, in Lisbon there is a French Restaurant - La Boulangerie that sells a gorgeous salad with fresh figs smothered in honey. If I was in Portugal I would invite you and Paul to lunch today. Xoxo

This is a great post. The writing breathes, paints and serenades - all at the same time. Just beautiful. Thank you.

Oh, I love fresh figs. I buy them at a local market here in Seattle, and now there are a ton of them. So yummy! Your story inspired me to split a few figs tomorrow, and add some sliced, toasted almonds. That sounds lovely ;-)

A fig tree came with our property. I dry most of them, although I use an electric air dryer. This year, after reading your article, I am going to try to make some jam. Thanks.
