I enjoyed reading the survey results. I am alternately amused and exasperated by readers (of anything to do with contemporary society) who demand that a writer never ever mention politics at all. It’s hardly like political rants constitute much of your content. Comments like that remind me of the “polite” rules in Victorian England regarding what could be discussed in public society (ie, not much).

Thanks for answering my own quirky niche question—we could definitely do tea and coffee!

I loved the suggestion of doing some occasional short videos. Maybe it could be something like a once a month highlight reel of places you’ve recently visited. I’m less enthused about podcasts these days. I subscribe to tons but since I no longer have a long commute, I wind up not listening to most of them!

Thanks for your comments, Lynn,

I can't be all things to all people and as much as I wish the world was one, big happy place, alas, no. So, writing about current events (as it pertains to my life and experiences) is something that I will continue to do.

I like your idea of highlight reels! Thanks!

And yes, coffee and tea are extremely popular here. As a matter of fact, in Sao Miguel, Azores, there are two tea plantations - the only two tea plantations in Europe. And Delta Coffee is a Portuguese coffee brand. There are also numerous specialty coffee roasters throughout the country. You won't be thirsty here! - CW

Overall, I am happy to hear that the results were helpful to you. Thanks for including in your analyses, names and lists of other substacks that cover others aspects of the Portugal experience. You should not feel compelled to be all things to all people. But, what I like the most is that for those people who are not your key audience, you provided alternatives (assuming they read this post). And, I look forward to purusing some of the other Substacks you mentioned when I have some more down time. But, don't worry, I am staying here too.

Very interesting results Carol! I have enjoyed it all and it has altered my perspective in that it has given me insight into daily life in a country other than the country of my birth. Always I look forward to your posts as they are interesting, informative, honest and intelligent. Thank you for expanding my world, for showing me some things I might never have seen without you and for making my life a little richer. It is always a pleasure!

Very interesting the results.

As more women than men responded.

Maybe some information about football also known as soccer on the other side of the pond

Although that might put off some of the ladies

For example, if the football is on, my lovely wife says I think I’ll do something else 😂

PS Except for the big matches. When Portugal plays on a national level for a big tournament like the European cup or the World Cup.

Thanks for your comment, Dr. Jody. Since living in Portugal, I have come to learn a bit more about football (soccer) in Portugal and Europe and your suggestion is something that I'll add to my list of topics. Obrigada! - CW
