Thank you for your tips! My evergreen for travelling is José Saramago „Viagem a Portugal“ ( don‘t know the English title). It helps to understand Portugal and is even working today! There is a new edition from the José Saramago Foundation. Nice pics in black & white.
I always enjoy your posts but I especially like this one, thanks for sharing. The Book of Disquiet can be very challenging to read but there is no doubt it is important to understanding Portugal. I can't wait to read the others - we are making the move to Portugal early next year if all goes well. Thank you!
This is fantastic! Thank you. Especially excited about The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon as my Sephardic Jewish family was forced out of Portugal in the 1490’s to northern Africa. Cannot wait to read them all!
Thanks for this twist on your usual stories. An excellent list including some new ones for me. I hope we all read the total works of Saramago, and Wilson, and you suggested two that are new to me that I'm eager to enjoy. So fun!
Thanks for the list, Carol. Here's another - Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone. A thriller centered on a female character, ex-CIA, living with her husband and children in Lisbon under questionable circumstances. Plot twists keep you guessing, really good writing keeps you engaged.
Whoops - Chris Pavone has wonderfully intrepid female characters, and I seem to have mooshed together The Expats character with Lisbon. Both worth a read!
Great list, thank you!
Interesting list! I’ll have to add several to my already too long “TBR list.”
I, too have a similar TBR list! And continue to add to it. Thanks so much for your comment and for reading my post! - CW

YES! Well described.
What a great list! Thank you for sharing. A few of these were new to me and I’ve been looking to add some books set in Portugal to my reading list.
Thank you, these sound fascinating.
